/ A diverse weekend programme awaits in Tartu, featuring Europe Day celebrations, the spring fair and family-friendly activities.

At Tartu Raekoja plats, Europe Day will be celebrated from 10:00 with activities for the whole family. The Europe tent offers free coffee drinks and sweets, as well as opportunities to take part in quizzes and creative workshops. Throughout the day there will also be music and small surprises for active participants. In the morning, Mayor Urmas Klaas will meet citizens, and during the day the European anthem “Ode to Joy” will be played from the Town Hall tower.

Spring Fair

At the same time, the Tartu Spring Fair will take place in the city centre streets and along the riverbank, bringing plenty of traders and springtime atmosphere to the city. Hundreds of vendors will be present, offering local food, fresh produce, handicrafts, flowers, seedlings and much more. A fun dog show will also take place during the day.

Opening of the temporary playground

From Saturday, the temporary playground in Siuru Park will be open, offering children opportunities for play and activity. On the opening day from 11:00 to 14:00, a special programme will take place. Children will have the chance to spend three hours co-creating their own play environment by experimenting, building and playing with cardboard boxes, tubes, fabrics and other loose materials. In addition, a woodworking workshop will allow participants to craft personalised keychains or small wooden figures and experiment with pattern-making, joining techniques and finishing.
