Two new exhibitions in the Tartu Art House

Tartu Art House PRESS RELEASE

Helle Vahersalu painting

17. oktoober 2019 / Tomorrow, 17 October two new exhibitions will be opened in the Tartu Art House: at 5 p.m. Helle Vahersalu’s anniversary exhibition “Snow, Rust, Colour” and at 6 p.m. Jass Kaselaan’s personal exhibition “Sheep”.

5 p.m. Helle Vahersalu “Snow, Rust, Colour”

Colours have dominated the works of Helle Vahersalu for most of her life. Her pictorial world is based on them and this is expressed through her portraits, still lifes and abstract compositions. Although Vahersalu doesn’t paint to convey messages or to make the world a better place, she still manages to transform our surroundings. She paints to bring more colour to the world of viewers, and to thereby offer them aesthetic experiences and soothe their senses. She paints because she cannot live without it. At the opening, a 232 page book will be presented and will be available for a special price!

6 p.m. Jass Kaselaan “Sheep”

The exhibition consists of sculptures resembling human heads on shelves and a photo depicting sheep. Jesus has said: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

The exhibitions will remain open until 10 November.
