3. märts 2021 / The Department of Population Procedures is limiting direct contact due to the spread of the coronavirus and asks that vital statistics and population procedures be performed electronically. Only the bridal couple and minor children may take part in the marriage ceremony.

It is requested that the various applications be sent to [email protected] (vital statistics procedures), [email protected] (population procedures) or submitted via the e-population register https://www.rahvastikuregister.ee/.

As the law does not allow applications for marriage, divorce and personal identification codes to be submitted digitally, you are asked to appear in person with a pre-filled application, with the necessary forms being available on the City of Tartu’s website https://www.tartu.ee/et/elukoht-perekond under the corresponding service. Possibilities to fill in the application in person are limited.

Marriages in the hall of the Department of Population Procedures (Tiigi 12) are performed only in the presence of the young couple. In addition, the couple’s minor children and a photographer may participate in the marriage. The photographer’s movement within the hall is restricted. Guests are not allowed.

Wearing a mask and keeping one’s distance in accordance with the 2 + 2 rule is required within the premises of the Department of Population Procedures. People displaying visible signs of illness are not allowed in the building.
