Tartu companies are competing for Company of the Year title

/ The winners of The Entrepreneurship Awards competition in various categories were announced, and they will continue to compete for the title of Company of the Year 2023.

In their respective categories, two companies from Tartu were victorious:

  • Innovator of the Year 2023: Icosagen Cell Factory OÜ
  • Sustainable Company of the Year 2023: AS A. Le Coq

According to Kaili Ojamets, the head of the Department of Business Development at Tartu City Government, recognizing and acknowledging businesses is a significant motivator and driving force. "Sustainability and innovation undoubtedly characterize both the city of Tartu and its business environment. Icosagen Cell Factory is the cornerstone of biotechnology entrepreneurship in Tartu and a great example of how research conducted at the University of Tartu has been successfully turned into entrepreneurship. Icosagen's development is crucial for the entire Estonia, expanding career opportunities for highly educated specialists and attracting talents back home. The pharmaceutical industry is rapidly advancing in Tartu - I see the potential in Icosagen to become Estonia's next deep-tech unicorn," said Ojamets.

A. Le Coq has been a key player in the business landscape for over 200 years and has remained a leader in its field during this time. The company's innovativeness, sustainable business practices, and contributions to the next generation are admirable. "Last week, we also recognized A. Le Coq with the title of the most successful company in Tartu's history. I am pleased to see how a company with such a long history is taking active steps to make its business operations more environmentally friendly and sustainable. The victory in this category is well-deserved!" Ojamets exclaimed.

The Estonian Company of the Year 2023 will be announced at a grand gala on November 4th, which can be watched on ETV.
