9 November / The City of Tartu is recognising the organisers of the most environmentally friendly events of 2021. The prize fund for the competition is EUR 3000, and all organisers of events in Tartu who have followed the Guide to Organising Environmentally Friendly Events, prepared in cooperation between Tartu 2024 and the City of Tartu, are invited to participate.

‘One of Tartu’s greatest values is its green and sustainable living environment, which was
recognised in the international arena this year by Green Destinations with a Silver Award. It
is gratifying that the organisation of events here is becoming more and more
environmentally friendly, which is why the City of Tartu wants to recognise the most
outstanding pioneers in this field,’ explained Deputy Mayor Raimond Tamm, who is inviting
event organisers to share their experiences and fill in the application form.

The prize fund for organising environmentally friendly events is EUR 3000, which can be split
between several events in the case of strong competition. In order to apply for the prize,
the organisers of their respective event must complete the environmentally friendly event
by 25 November, at the latest.

The Tartu 2024 Foundation’s Guide to Organising Environmentally Friendly Events was
completed at the beginning of this summer, serving as a practical tool to help the organisers
of cultural and sports events as well as conferences and tourism make more
environmentally friendly choices. All events included in the official Tartu 2024 programme
are based on the Guide, and event organisers across Estonia are invited to use it.
