Contract for construction of the Emajõgi Riverbank promenade was signed

/ On February 3 Urmas Klaas, Mayor of Tartu, and Priit Paabo, CEO of GRK Eesti AS, signed an agreement for the construction of the Emajõgi River promenade.
The Emajõgi River embankment between Kaarsild Bridge and Rahu Bridge will become an attractive recreation area by the end of this year. During the course of the works, depreciated embankment fortifications and walkways on the embankments will be reconstructed. Staircases and platforms of different heights and widths will be built, along with a café area and observation terraces stretching from Kaarsild Bridge to the Atlantis building
Safety railings will be replaced along the section between the Atlantis building and Rahu Bridge, and a 3.7 m wide reinforced concrete staircase will be built at the wharf.
A new section of the cycle and pedestrian track will be completed, which will allow cyclists to smoothly travel along the left bank of the Emajõgi River. The whole area will receive new lighting.
The project for the construction of the Emajõgi riverbank promenade was prepared by OÜ Tinter-Projekt, who proceeded from the draft plan prepared by TajuRuum OÜ. The project for the reconstruction of the safety railing (Atlantis building – Rahu Bridge) was prepared by OÜ Kuren Projekt.
Work between Rahu Bridge and the Atlantis building should be completed by the end of June, with the entire promenade area completed by the end of November of this year. The total cost of the works is EUR 1.7 million, and the builder is GRK Eesti AS, which will start preparatory works in the coming weeks.
